Bailey House has been fortunate enough to launch a medical case management (MCM) program that will strengthen relationships within the community.

The MCM program is a partnership with three healthcare partner agencies – Boriken Health Center in East Harlem, Heritage Health Care in Central Harlem, and HELP/PSI in Highbridge in the Bronx – and integrates the community and the healthcare system to provide a comprehensive continuity of care with wraparound services. Targeting individuals who are new to HIV medical care as well as those who have fallen out of care, the program addresses their medical and support service needs by: connecting individuals to care and coordinating all health-related services with centralized support services; facilitating ongoing communication between the medical provider and community service staff; and fostering independence and self-management through health and treatment adherence education.

On December 4th, Bailey House graduated the first class of COPE participants since its move to the brand new Rand Harlan Center for Housing, Wellness, and Community.

The COPE graduation has become a time to celebrate the success of those who have taken their diagnosis of HIV/AIDS and have used it to have a positive impact in their community. As peer educators, our COPE participants have gone into the community to educate and connect those who are in need of accurate prevention strategies.

The class of 10 each received a certificate and enjoyed a reception afterwards. Many of our graduates used the occasion to open up about how the COPE program has changed their lives for the better. Bailey House is proud of the work they have done. Without them we would be missing a key component to the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS in underserved communities.

Bailey House will continue its long standing tradition of giving out Thanksgiving turkeys to those most in need and this year it will be done with style. With impeccable make-up, lots of cleavage and six inch stilettos, the Emperor and Empress and members of the Imperial Court of New York will be dressed to the nines to hand out over 200 turkeys to Bailey House clients.

Bailey House’s holiday season will start off with some extra sparkle as they hold their annual Turkey Drive Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th between 11am and 2pm. The ladies of the Court will doll themselves up and take over the new, vibrant Rand Harlan Center for Housing, Wellness, and Community, located in East Harlem, to pass out all the makings of a Thanksgiving feast. Clients will be treated to turkeys, mashed potatoes, stuffing, canned yams, green beans, oh, and huge hair and giant smiles all shades of red. Bailey House is honored to celebrate the holidays with the community it serves in such a unique way.

Bailey House’s relationship with the Imperial Court of New York goes back to a time when AIDS was a death sentence. The Imperial Court, with their good natured banter and humor, visited Bailey House clients with warm meals and entertained clients, particularly on holidays when loneliness sets in. For over 25 years, the two organizations have teamed up to generate support for Bailey House’s landmark housing and community programs. “The Imperial Court of New York is very near and dear to our hearts. When the need is great, they are always there to step up to the plate. We couldn’t do it without them.”, says Regina Quattrochi, CEO of Bailey House.
