Volunteers are so vital to Bailey House and the services we provide that we’ve come to refer to them as “Angels.” When you volunteer with Bailey House, you become part of a team nearly 200 strong, many of whom return year after year to continue making a difference.
We welcome volunteers on both an ongoing and one-time basis and can work with you to create an opportunity that fits your interests and schedule. Whether you have a talent or skill you’d like to share or simply a big heart, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.

Events
Throughout the year we host a variety of fundraising events, such as the annual Bailey House Auction. We also hold holiday events for our Bailey House community. Volunteers are needed at all events for design, hospitality, set-up, and clean up. The Auction is our largest annual fundraising event, and we rely on over 100 volunteers to serve as silent auction staff, greeters, auction captains, and check-in/check-out staff.
Advocacy and Community Outreach
Street Fairs/Expos: Throughout the year, Bailey House calls on volunteers to work at local street fairs and community expositions to educate the community about the agency, solicit donations, provide information, and recruit new volunteers.
Rallies: Bailey House advocates for issues that affect the communities we serve, including government funding for rental assistance and supportive housing programs, and funding for policies and programs that affect people living with HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable communities. Represent Bailey House at rallies and demonstrations in the New York City area and help by making your voice heard.
Ongoing Opportunities
Food Pantry: The food pantry is open every Wednesday and Friday. Volunteers are needed to help with food distribution, client registration, stocking and shelving food, and taking inventory.
Administrative Support: Volunteers are needed to help various departments at Bailey House with filing and charting, organizing, and mass mailings.
Operations Support: Volunteers help our Operations team with tasks like painting, plastering, spring cleaning, and gardening at Bailey-Holt House in Greenwich Village.
Recreational Activities: Volunteers assist with recreational activities for Bailey House residents, including game nights, movie nights, day trips, and more. Creative, friendly, and energetic volunteers are needed.
